Draft Resource Assessments Available for Review and Comment

PLEASE NOTE:
The Web-based comment period closed June 30.

As described in the State Water Plan, these draft water resource assessments are evaluations of the capacity of water resources to meet demands for water supply and wastewater discharge without unreasonable impacts. In January and February 2010, EPD conducted Joint Meetings of the Regional Water Planning Councils to deliver the preliminary results of the draft water resource assessments. Presentations from and summaries of those meetings are found here.

EPD is releasing for public review and comment, a synopsis of each of three draft water resource assessments: groundwater availability, surface water availability and surface water quality (assimilative capacity). Comments were collected through this website until June 30, 2010.  After that time, comments may be submitted via mail or fax to:

How will the comments be used?

Refinements and adjustments to the draft current water resource assessments are expected and will be based on input from regional water planning council members, interested groups, the general public and a scientific and engineering advisory panel.  EPD will consider all comments, provide responses and make necessary revisions to the draft water resource assessments.  EPD will prepare a comment summary and response document.  Comments received will be incorporated as the resource assessments are refined and applied to support development of regional water plans.
